Adriana is passionate about empathetically empowering clients to heal and change so that they can live their lives to the fullest.
She believes that every person is valuable and therefore treats people with respect, unconditional positive regard and compassion. She knows that everyone is capable of change but understands that it is hard and takes courage, so she is patient and encouraging throughout the counselling process.
Adriana honors the uniqueness of each individual, couple and family and so collaborates with every client to develop a plan that will be effective and employ their strengths. This is possible because she uses an integrative approach to counselling and draws from; Attachment Theory, Emotional Focused Therapy, Interpersonal Neurobiology, Positive Psychology and Mindfulness based practices.
She has personal and professional experience working with third cultural kids and individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. She understands that faith and spirituality are important to some clients. She is willing and able to address them and incorporate them into the counselling process but will only do so only upon the request of the client.
Adriana knows that scheduling counselling can be challenging sometimes so she provides daytime and evening appointments. She believes finding the best fit and connection with your counsellor is the biggest piece to healing. In order to ensure that you connect well with her, she offers a free 20-minute consultation in person or over the phone.
She is affirming of all religions, cultures, sexual orientations and gender identities.
Adriana is a Registration Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta psychologists.
