Joel’s approach to therapy involves meeting clients where they are at. Each client comes to therapy with different thoughts and beliefs about the process. He acknowledges success depends upon a variety of factors and works diligently with each client to create a treatment plan specifically tailored to them. Joel believes therapy is most effective when there is a strong therapeutic relationship. He strives to see clients meet their goals and live their idea of a successful life. Joel utilizes Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy to engage clients in personal exploration, goal setting, and learning new skills.
Joel works with children, adolescents, and adults. He has experience with working with a variety of mental health difficulties ranging from mild to severe concerns . He understands children and adolescents often desire an experiential, hands-on therapeutic approach to help process, understand, and alter their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Therefore, he uses a variety of play-based approaches with children and hands on exercises with adolescents. While working with adults he takes time to listen and hear clients’ stories. He focuses on their specific goals and applies evidenced based interventions to help them feel better and find healing in that area of their life.

Joel is accepting new clients and accommodates scheduling, as he offers mornings, daytimes, and evenings.
