Kyla takes a warm and compassionate approach to counselling. Her priority is to ensure her clients feel comfortable and safe. When you step into Kyla’s office you enter a space of acceptance where there is no judgement, only curiosity to understand your story. Kyla believes that everyone is capable of changing their story but knows how difficult change can be. She will support you, at your pace, in your journey, to become the best version of yourself.
Kyla is flexible and creative in finding the right path for your growth and healing. She wants to ensure she finds the right tools and strategies for you. She works primarily from an Attachment Narrative perspective but draws from Cognitive Behavioural, Acceptance Commitment and Mindfulness practices when appropriate.
Kyla is passionate about relationship counselling and is accepting of relationships of all shapes and sizes. Kyla pulls mainly from Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) when working with couples. Even though she focuses primarily on EFT, she has trained under the world’s foremost couples counsellor completing her level 1 & 2 in Gottman couples counselling. Kyla also has extensive experience counselling adults, teens and children in the community suffering from a variety of mental health difficulties.
Kyla understands that every person is unique and valuable and is affirming of all cultures, religions, gender identities, and sexual and love orientations.
The connection between therapist and client is of utmost importance for the work Kyla does with clients. Therefore, she offers a free 20-minute consultation for new clients to ensure a good therapeutic fit. For ease of scheduling, she offers daytime, evening, and weekend appointments.
Kyla is a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists.
