Liz has several years of experience working with a diverse client base facing a wide range of challenges. A few of these include trauma, grief and bereavement, depression, anxiety, career challenges, and daily struggles. Her gentle nature creates a safe and comfortable environment. Liz believes that when clients feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted, they have the freedom to become their best selves. Her soft and calm presence is appreciated by clients.
Liz understands that the client is the expert on their own life, and she works collaboratively with the client to develop an individualized, holistic plan to help eliminate obstacles and reach desired goals. She trusts in each clients’ inherent ability for optimal growth and works from a strengths-based perspective to empower clients.
Using an integrative approach to therapy, she draws heavily on Person Centred Therapy (PCT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness-based approaches; however, she also relies on Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and Schema Therapy to support her clients. In her couple’s work, she uses Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and Gottman Couples Counselling.
Liz believes the client-therapist relationship is crucial to positive therapeutic outcomes, therefore, she offers a free 20-minute consultation for new clients (in person or via phone/online) to answer their questions and allow them to determine if she is a good fit for them.
To promote availability and accessibility, she offers a variety of daytime and evening appointment times.
Liz is a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists.
