  • Nick Bohn

Nick brings a soft and caring approach to counselling. His clients often appreciate his sense of empathy and understanding. He works with his clients in a way that makes them feel safe and heard. He knows that it is hard to open up in counselling. Therefore, he gently guides clients towards change.

Nick believes that all individuals can change. He knows that each client is different. Therefore, time is taken to tailor counselling to each client. He uses a variety of different theories to help bring change to clients. He uses attachment theory and emotion focused therapy to help bring lasting change to clients. Even those who are struggling with significant distress. To make counselling collaborative he also uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Mindfulness. Using these models of therapy teaches clients tools that they can use in their world outside of session. This helps clients change quicker.

When working with couples, Nick uses a variety of approaches. He uses tools from the most researched and evidenced-based couples therapy: Gottman Couples Counselling. As well, he uses Emotion Focused Couples therapy to help couples navigate difficult emotions. He is actively engaged in training to stay current with all the changes and current research in couples counselling.

Nick wants to ensure that he is available for clients when they need him. Therefore, he has a variety of daytime and evening appointments. He very much believes that the most important part of counselling is the relationship between the counsellor and the client. Therefore, he provides a free 20-minute consultation to all new clients if they would like. This can be done online or over the phone. Whichever suits the client’s needs best.
