Susan has a strong passion for facilitating positive change in persons who are struggling in their relationships and personal lives. She believes that each person is unique and shaped by their innate qualities. She sees that each client is the expert on their own lives. She provides an empathic and non-judgemental presence to her clients. Susan believes that healing takes place in collaborative and safe client-counsellor relationship.
Susan uses a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Attachment Theory, and Family Systems Theory in her practice. In her couples counselling she uses a combination of Gottman and Emotion Focused Therapy.
One of Susan’s great strengths with clients is that she is flexible. She takes her interventions from a variety of sources as it is not a one size fits all counselling process. She believes that forming trust and a strong therapeutic relationship is an integral component of successful counselling. She is known for her hard work ethic to find the best tool and intervention for each client.
Susan desires to meet clients where they are at. Therefore, she has a variety of daytime and evening appointments to best meet clients’ needs.
