Faiza works at the Crowfoot Office.
Grounded in authenticity and genuineness, Faiza brings a warm presence while using a gentle and empathetic lens to understand people’s stories and struggles. With over 15 years of experience in the Mental Health field, lived experience and knowledge of Trauma and Neuroscience research, Faiza understands the importance of nurturing safety, vulnerability, and connection while building a therapeutic relationship. She understands how difficult it can be to reach out for help, so she tries to make the process as comfortable and safe as possible.
Over the years, she has supported many individuals and couples with struggles such as Abuse (Emotional, Physical, and Sexual) and Neglect, Depression, Anxiety, Stress, Grief, Workplace issues, Trauma, Life Transitions, Emotional Regulation, Divorce, Infidelity, Trust, and other Relational and Attachment issues. Faiza specializes in Trauma, whether Acute, Complex, Chronic, Childhood, Attachment or Intergenerational and offers holistic approaches to healing.
Faiza has an undergraduate degree in Psychology (Honours BSc) from the University of Toronto, a graduate certificate in Addictions and Mental Health Counselling, and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) from Yorkville University. She is currently completing her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PsyD).
As a person, Faiza finds herself instinctively drawn to ‘seeing’ people, gently peeling the layers, and unearthing the Authentic Self. Her life has been filled with moments of warm curiosity and nonjudgmental intrigue – foundational blocks of her counselling style – where strangers have courageously shared their stories of adversity, strength and resilience. Listening to people’s stories is a profoundly gratifying experience for Faiza. She is amazed and honoured by people’s courage to trust and be vulnerable. The process of listening is a deeply fulfilling one for Faiza, as she finds herself empathizing, observing, being present and attuning to thoughts and emotions, noticing patterns, connecting dots, and nurturing space and awareness, leading to precious moments of clarity and insights.
Faiza uses an integrative approach, drawing from various treatment modalities, including Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness, Self-Compassion, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Focus-Oriented therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Somatic approaches, and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. She tailors sessions to clients’ unique needs and strengths. She works with couples using Emotion-Focused Therapy, the Gottman Method, and Family Systems Therapy. Her approach is Trauma-informed and Attachment-based.
Faiza believes therapy can be life-altering when there is a good fit. She views her role as supportively walking with people along their healing journeys to find their inner wisdom, voice it, and live it. She believes there is always hope, especially when it feels like there is none.
Faiza is a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP), a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor with the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada (ACCT) and a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists in Ontario (CRPO).
